This assembly of thought leaders convened to discuss how to advance Food as Medicine approaches and programs. Gaples Institute Executive Director Stephen Devries, MD, delivered a presentation entitled “Nourishing the Food as Medicine Movement: The Role of Health Professionals as Change Agents” on Day 2 of this event.
This two-day summit, hosted by Tufts University’s Food is Medicine Institute on April 24-25, 2024, brought together national healthcare leaders, policy makers, patients, and more to share and highlight the advances, best practices, challenges, and next directions in the Food is Medicine movement. Stephen Devries, MD, Executive Director of the Gaples Institute, moderated a lively panel discussion entitled “Progress in Medical Nutrition Education.”
The Gaples Institute’s Executive Director, Dr. Stephen Devries, provided a Grand Rounds presentation entitled “Nutrition: The Low-Hanging Fruit in Medicine” to health professionals of Hennepin Healthcare Department of Medicine.
As part of the inaugural Food Is Medicine Summit hosted in Washington, DC by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Gaples Institute Executive Director Stephen Devries, MD was a featured panelist in a session entitled “Building Food is Medicine into Education Across the Health Continuum.” The day-long Summit featured several discussions, talks, and demonstrations on how HHS is working with its partners to jointly support the advancement of Food is Medicine. Dr. Stephen Devries, Executive Director of the Gaples Institute and Adjunct Associate Professor Nutrition at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, was a panelist at the event Advancing Food Is Medicine Approaches, presented by the White House, Tufts University, and Food Tank.
